The employees of the Department of Control Systems focus their pedagogical activities both on the teaching of theoretical courses belonging to the Cybernetics corpus and on the teaching of courses related to the construction and programming of control systems applied to the automation of manufacturing processes in industrial production as well as control systems applied in road and rail traffic control.

The scientific research activity of the department's staff is focused on the following problem areas:

• Risk analysis, and quantification of the safety of control systems.
• Formalization and modelling of functional properties of control systems.
• Research and development in the field of intelligent transportation systems.
• Research and development in the field of robotic systems.
• Artificial intelligence and its applications in control and decision-making.
